Concept website — Summit Masonry Works is a fictional company created for design demonstration purposes only

How We Work

Transparency is a material, too.

Most contractors don't document their process because they don't have one. We do — and we share it openly, because you deserve to know exactly what working with us involves before you commit.

Stone masonry in progress

Each stone is hand-selected from the full delivery before placement begins.

01

Initial Consultation

Week 1

Every Summit project begins with a single conversation — in person, at your home. We walk the site together and talk through your vision, priorities, and any constraints you're working within.

We bring material samples, a portfolio of comparable work, and honest questions. Our goal at this stage is understanding, not selling. By the end of this meeting, we'll both know whether we're a good fit.

02

Design & Material Selection

Weeks 2–4

Once we agree to move forward, our design process begins. We produce hand-drawn or digital sketches tailored to your specific site, and present a curated selection of stone samples — pulled from suppliers we've worked with for years and trust implicitly.

We account for scale, proportion, light, and the existing architecture of your home. This is where the project takes its true shape. No decisions are rushed.

03

Site Preparation

Weeks 4–6

Before a single stone is placed, the foundation must be right. We handle all necessary site work — forming, substrate preparation, drainage considerations, and any structural requirements specific to your project type.

We work cleanly and communicate clearly throughout, keeping disruption to your property to a minimum.

04

Craftsmanship & Build

Weeks 6–14

This is where years of experience become visible. Our master masons work by hand — selecting each stone, testing its fit, adjusting, and setting with precision. There is no shortcut to this process and we do not take one.

Build timelines vary by project scope, but we provide weekly progress updates and maintain an open site for you to visit at any point. Quality is never sacrificed for speed.

05

Final Inspection & Care Guide

Final Week

We conduct a joint walkthrough before declaring any project complete. If anything isn't exactly right, we address it before we leave.

Every client receives a written care guide for their specific stone type — covering cleaning, sealing schedules, seasonal considerations, and what to watch for over the years. We remain available long after the project closes.

Common Questions

What to expect when you work with us.

How long will my project take?

Most residential masonry projects run 8–14 weeks from contract to completion. Complex projects involving multiple features or custom stonework can run longer. We'll give you an honest timeline estimate during the consultation.

Will there be disruption to my home or yard?

Some disruption is unavoidable, but we work systematically to minimize it. We protect surrounding areas, maintain a clean site daily, and stage materials thoughtfully. For interior projects, we seal off adjacent spaces from dust.

Do you handle permitting?

Yes. For projects that require permits — most retaining walls and exterior installations — we manage the permitting process in full and include it in our project fee. You won't need to navigate the city yourself.

What if I want to change something mid-project?

We've built flexibility into our process for this reason. Minor changes are common and we accommodate them without friction. Significant scope changes require a brief conversation and a contract amendment, which we handle promptly.

How is pricing structured?

We provide fixed-price proposals after the design phase — not hourly estimates. You'll know the full cost before any work begins. There are no surprise charges.

Ready to begin?

We respond to every inquiry within one business day.
